How To Wear A Button Up

It was just a matter of time before I did a How To featuring my favorite article of clothing… in general, I prefer to lift button ups off of my dad or brother and then wear them to death.

The star shirt is from the Urban Outfitters Men’s Department, the red one underneath my Madewell leather jacket is from Old Navy, the plaid one underneath my grandma’s monogrammed sweater is from my brother c/o of J.Crew, the polka dot shirt my mom got from Land’s End Canvas, the chambray one is Rag & Bone and worn over a Gap henley, and the “wishful thinking” shirt is from J.Crew, worn over a Victoria’s Secret string bikini and Forever 21 booty-licious shorts.

No Bail

That’s my mom’s old tee, which she bought at the Symposium on Humanity in 1979 and says “God Bless Detroit.” (Check out this vintage sketch of it, shoo.) The skirt I bought on modcloth.com (and it’s no secret that I literally wear it/draw it all the time). Who doesn’t recognize those wedges I also hardly ever take off? (Really, why do I own any other shoes? Ha.) And dad’s old backpack – loved so much it’s starting to tear. (Tear. :( .) And, my God, the Ray Bans.

Quick Change Artist

As for what I was actually re-rocking all day, I wore a dress from Lands’ End Canvas (it’s perfect for a humid summer: cotton, washable, breathable), with a navy blue leather Ferragamo belt.

For a meeting in the morning, I paired it with Aerosole pleather bow espadrilles, my well-loved Gryphon for Target bag, the Avs, and Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick in Peach with Trish McEvoy lipstick in Coral.

To teach a financial education class in the afternoon, I slipped on metallic linen Isaac Mizrahi for Target sling-backs with the Avs.

And for figure drawing class in the evening, I went comfortable with my snakeskin-print Birkenstocks, dad’s old backpack, and a mix of Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Fire & Ice with the Trish McEvoy lipstick in Coral.

Tigers in the Mist

As for what the outfit was made of, I wore a Merona for Target trench jacket, my new H&M sweater (I’m sorry I’m not sorry for wearing it three days in a row), a Talbots pleated tiger print skirt, socks from Filenes, boots from DSdubs, the Timex, an umbrella, and my dad’s old backpack.
