First Look! 50 Ways to Wear a Scarf Trailer

Can you believe it? They make book promo videos these days.

I want to thank Nic Weinfeld, the director, for making my life seem way cooler than it actually is, and all my beautiful DC friends for helping out and looking so fly on camera.

If you’re interested, here’s a link to the song.

And have you bought 50 Ways to Wear a Scarf yet? Head to Amazon, or may I also suggest heading to your friendly local bookstore and asking them to order you a copy.

Inside the Making of 50 Ways to Wear a Scarf

Have you bought your copy of 50 Ways to Wear a Scarf yet??

Honestly, it’s a scary time for me. This book just lived in my head and in my journal for the past year and a half, and now it’s time to share it with the world.

I’m not joking when I say that while writing it, I actually forgot that anyone would read it besides me and my editor.

When I opened the real, live book for the first time and read the introduction, I felt such a wave of embarrassment! It was like reading my private journals out loud. Or like being in that dream where you show up in front of class and you forgot your clothes.

Truth be told, the whole thing started in my black Moleskine.

Everything: the outline, the words, the sketches, every plan for every outfit and every scarf and every manic little note I every yelled at myself. Everything.

No surprise here, I just think better with a pencil in my hand!

50 Ways to Wear a Scarf is available NOW on Amazon.com and wherever books are sold.

Holy crap.

So, here’s the big news. For the past year, I have labored through the formidable task of writing and illustrating a book, which is now available for preorder on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and IndieBound. It is called 50 Ways to Wear a Scarf, and I am incredibly overwhelmed and grateful to have had the […]

There are some changes a’foot at the offices of My Closet in Sketches…

Excitingly, the My Closet in Sketches official SHOP is officially OPEN FOR BUSINESS. It’s been a long time coming! PLEASE let me know if you have any problems browsing, or if you want to see any particular favorite past sketches in print, or if you just want to say hay, glad to see you’re finally selling out! Just kidding. My goal is that the store will be constantly evolving, and that new prints and ideas will be churned out on a regular basis.

Secondly, please join me in welcoming my first official employee, Jill! (How cute is her outfit from her first day?) She’ll be helping me man the shop, in addition to creating a more robust and stylish online presence. (I’ll still be in charge of the drawing board, thankyouverymuch.) Swing by the new Closet Sketches Pinterest page and say hi, and stay tuned for more Sketchy online updates!

Love always,

LF

Rules of the Game:

1. Sport high waisted skirts (in linen and cotton) with matching bras peeking out under tanks.

2. Wear a hat.

3. Always keep a swimsuit in your backpack.

It’s really, really summer. In breathable fabrics, silhouettes that define my waist and show off the figure are the only way to go.

On a hot day of werkin’ it out at the studio, I wore a Forever 21 cotton tank tied at the waist, a cotton underwire bra from Victoria’s Secret, a Free People skirt picked up second hand at Secondi, a baseball cap, my Ray Ban Av’s, my dad’s old back pack, and some flip flops.

Oh, and the background pattern is inspired by a new bikini (bought on sale) from J. Crew.
