The Recipe

I must be frank – I’ve been playing a lot less dress-up. Not because I’m not actually dressing up. (I make a point to do that. Every day.) It’s because there’s a lot less guesswork in reaching for my wardrobe in the morning these days. My style has crystalized into something that I hope communicates […]

Inside the Making of 50 Ways to Wear a Scarf

Have you bought your copy of 50 Ways to Wear a Scarf yet??

Honestly, it’s a scary time for me. This book just lived in my head and in my journal for the past year and a half, and now it’s time to share it with the world.

I’m not joking when I say that while writing it, I actually forgot that anyone would read it besides me and my editor.

When I opened the real, live book for the first time and read the introduction, I felt such a wave of embarrassment! It was like reading my private journals out loud. Or like being in that dream where you show up in front of class and you forgot your clothes.

Truth be told, the whole thing started in my black Moleskine.

Everything: the outline, the words, the sketches, every plan for every outfit and every scarf and every manic little note I every yelled at myself. Everything.

No surprise here, I just think better with a pencil in my hand!

50 Ways to Wear a Scarf is available NOW on Amazon.com and wherever books are sold.

Holy crap.

So, here’s the big news. For the past year, I have labored through the formidable task of writing and illustrating a book, which is now available for preorder on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and IndieBound. How To Shop The Men’s Department

Hello, it’s me again! These last few months have been a reshuffling of priorities, a reorganizing of time, a period of reflection and realizing. With that vagueness out of the way… one thing that definitely remains the same is a respect for the men’s section. Or boyfriend’s/dad’s/brother’s closet – just ask permission first! That’s my […]

Cherry Bomb

A late summer infusion of inspiration.

Last weekend, some of my  pals from college came for a visit. They were hollering for some good DC shopping, so we swung by Current Boutique on 14th Street. In the sale racks, I found this cotton dress in my ideal shape: a halter to show off the shoulders, some definition on the chest, and a high waisted silhouette falling into a flattering swingy skirt. The best part, nonetheless, is the cutout in the back, which makes me feel thrillingly, if slightly, exposed.

The feminine shape of the dress offsets a pair of chunky Kork-Ease sandals (similar to these) I recently uncovered in the clearance section at Nordstrom Rack while home in Michigan. Honestly, I’m tired of summer sandals that aren’t supportive (is this what adulthood feels like?), and these puppies may be  the most ergonomic of the pack. In my favorite color – a bright tomato red – they’ve been elevating my summer go-to dresses all month.

Lastly, the good people at Kate Spade sent me this “Love Is In the Air” tote earlier this summer. No doubt, there is a lot of love in this air ’round here.

Hope you’re enjoying these dog days as much as I am – September ain’t here yet.
