The Politics of Pretty: AM to PM

LFessentials

Hi, remember me!? (I missed you.)

Although I  never draw my face here on My Closet in Sketches, I obviously still think about what it looks like in the real world. I was thrilled when Kara, of the blog Politics of Pretty, asked to feature me in her regular series AM to PM. When it comes to presenting an image of ourselves to others, beauty is as seminal as fashion – preach! – and I really do consider that every time I step up to the getting-ready-plate. Head on over to Politics of Pretty and check out the piece!

And it’s good to be back.

My Muse, Baxter, Poses as Einstein

Baxter, namesake of The Blind Dog Cafe and doggie muse, got a little science crazy and asked to be realized in the likeness of his favorite physicist. A resemblance, no?

LF Draws the Centerfold for Panda Head Mag – SO NSFW!!

When the bright and vivacious Morgan from DC-based Panda Head Mag asked me to illustrate some 1970′s, Playboy Bunny centerfold inspired nudie pics, my immediate, unwavering answer was YES. I’m sorry, if you don’t enjoy a good hand-drawn nudie pic, then you’re just not human.

LF and Scoutmob Do It’s Vintage Darling

Let me tell you, Enemy Number One to my bank account is Scoutmob – those crazy cats keep sending me to cute DC shops and MAKING me buy things! It’s not my fault!

The latest conquest happened at It’s Vintage Darling, an gem of a store right down the street from where I used to live. I left with this uh-mazing silk dress, in addition to a girl crush for the store manager, Elise.
